OKay Ok, that was super funny, but now for the real Daniela update.
It’s true, I do have other hobbies. Sometimes a hobby finds you, its something you can’t escape from, because for whatever reason, you inexplicably want to do it.
For me, an example of this is cooking. I no longer have anyone to cook for, really, and although I’m strapped for cash and shouldn’t buy organic materials to make up fancy dishes, I do it anyway. I do it because it’s therapeutic, and it’s my hobby. And it tastes pretty damn good.
A Class “B” hobby is one that emerges out of necessity. In fact, aside from making orzo salad, I’m currently sprawled out on the ground on stand-by while I make mixtapes on the audio system [purchased by my parents in 1993]. This hobby is new, unexpected, but since I have no CD player in my car, only a tapedeck, this has sprung up and now I’m hooked. I was in dire need for some tapes though, since I only had one Out of Eden tape, sitting forgotten in the tape deck. Last night the Robertsons loaded me up with some old tapes which is great—though I do hate to record over Lenny Kravitz — then today I found two tapes left, I assume, by my grandmother. They are titled, “Lifescapes, a Sax Christmas” and “Songs 4 Life” —and no, the latter isn’t a Salt n’ Peppa album, I checked.
Then there’s Class “C”, a hobby that you pretend to enjoy, but really just feel like you should do it. My example of this is going to bilingual yoga classes at the local episcopal church. I don’t really like yoga, I feel dumb. I’m also not flexible, and since I am pretty competitive, I feel like I lose everytime. But then again, I’m not super active these days, I couldn’t really afford the hockey right now, and so I’m doing yoga. Also, its one of those activities that forces you to socialize (en espanol tambien!)

I’m going to my first session tonight, I was invited by the Reverend, Nicolle, this past sunday when I visited the congregation. Wish me luck!
